Christmas creativity

I moved a box that was beneath my cutting table and I found my 60 mm rotary cutter that went missing about 3 years ago! 

What a mess, how in the world did it get rusty spots??  Yuck!   I'll use it to cut paper so long as it doesn't damage my cutting mat.


I've been working on blocks for a Christmas quilt, but what's a Christmas quilt without trees?

I wanted to use some of my strings, so I grabbed a handful and laid them out... as long as they had some green or were close to green, they were a candidate for the trees! 

This is where the rusty blade actually came in handy... I drew a 60-degree shape on pages from an old phone book as a base, and sewed strings horizontally to build my trees.  It took no time at all!

Here is a tree before trimming

looks a bit wonky but after I pulled the paper off, put fusible on the back and trimmed it down, it was a (somewhat) graceful tree!
