Our bee doesn't meet in December because of the Christmas holiday, so we delay our Christmas celebration until the first meeting of the year, in January. Which gave me an extra month to make the gifts I want to share with the Bee!
I found a tutorial for mini design boards at Bee in my Bonnet that I thought were really cute - an appropriate name, since they'll be gifts for my Bee!
You cut the poster board, attach the batting to one side, attach the fabric strip along the edges and presto - a mini design board! I'm making these at 10x10 as suggested in the tutorial, they'll be a good size to hold pieces for 6" or 8" blocks.
They're easy to make but you really do have to go slowly to keep the fabric edge straight.
So that's one down, X-plus to go!
Sew forth and sew on til later

Cluck! Cluck! Is That My Machine
Hello everyone, Happy New Year, I am back. Had to take some time off to get through all the holiday stuff. I Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that you will be blessed in this New Year 2013.
I do not plan to make any resolutions, because I most likely will not keep them any way. I do not plan to make a list of UFOs because I will get to them when I have the time. I will be starting new projects that I know that I most likely will not finish. I do not plan to worry about the Fiscal Cliff since there is nothing I can do about it.
I have join several blog hops from now to March which I will post later this week. I am back in the sewing room working on some things for Tom. The Burgundy and Gold Redskins YA!!! Since I am on the new computer, I have not fingered out how to get picture from the camera so I will have to post pictures from the laptop when I go upstairs.
As I was working on some pot holders last night, sewing on a binding, my old faithful sewing machine started to make funny noises cluck, cluck, needle will not go up it is stuck. Looking at it now, I know it will have to go to the shop. Luckily have have several sewing machines, so I brought one down from the bedroom to work on today. Hopefully I will finish these projects by tonight and start on my blog hop projects.
Well that is all for now, I do have a lot more to tell you, but I want to get set up on and get to sewing. So until tomorrow.

Christmas quilt progress
I've started combining blocks in my Christmas quilt, although there are still some blocks I want to make such as the Santa block from last year's 12 Days of Christmas Sampler QAL sponsored by Sew Sweetness. I've pieced a basket that I'll embellish with candy canes; I still don't have my house, though. Here's a combination I like:
I like the stack of string-pieced trees next to the other blocks. I embellished the wreath with holly; just after I finished appliqueing it down, I noticed it was in the wrong corner! oh well, it's done now...
Sunbonnet Sue trimming the tree...
She looks like a calendar girl! It wasn't done on purpose, but it's a cute way to display those two 12-1/2" blocks. The red horizontal strip has Christmas lights on it, very appropriate for the tree! And did you notice the single red block? ;o) I'm working on other combinations that I'll share later.
That's it for now, have a great Saturday... sew forth and sew on!
